Malaysia Airlines held a Hari Raya Open House today from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm at the Seasons Restaurant, situated in the Centrepoint Hotel. This is the first time I stepped foot into the Seasons Restaurant after its refurbishment last December. The place looked colourful and bright (certainly more inviting!). It was also a good time for me to get acquainted with friends from the hospitality industry. Mr. Mohamed Safri Abdullah, Malaysia Airlines' Area Manager for Brunei was on hand to welcome the guests.

Yesterday was Alex's big day as he's finally hitched! His mother has been waiting for this day until her neck has grown a few extra inches (according to her speech at the dinner reception)! In the morning, Alex fetched his future wife from the hotel (where she was staying) with a number of close friends back to his house where the customary tea ceremonies and photo sessions took place. In the evening, the dinner reception was held at the main hall of Chung Hwa Middle School in the capital. Congratulations to Auntie Lo (Alex's mother), Alex and Xiao Li!

This morning I attended the wedding of Ak Afizan Pg Yakub and Rehayu which was held at the Grand Hall of the Empire Hotel & Country Club. It seems to be a trend nowadays for Malay weddings to be held in hotels which is good as the environment was definitely cooler and more comfortable! We arrived at 11.15 am and managed to get a VIP parking space in the basement which is a short distance from the banquet hall. Guests started arriving from 11.00 am to 12.00 noon and after prayers, lunch stared at around 12.30 pm. The guests started leaving at 1.00pm as soon as the groom left for the bride's home. Congratulations on your wedding day!

With Desmond Archeson, GM of Empire Hotel
Today, I have three invitations to "Hari Raya Open Houses" and the first stop was Shamsul's open house. Shamsul is the President of the Brunei Association of Hotels (and also the GM of Orchid Garden Hotel) and as the Honorary Treasurer of BAH, I must visit him as we are in the same "team". My second stop was Wan's open house at Jalan Tutong. He's the boss of a security company which also provides security services for our hotel. Lastly, we visited the Empire Hotel and Country Club's open house which was held at Level 1 of the main building. Selamat Hari Raya, everyone and thanks for the invitations!

Finally, this acupuncture clinic was officially opened today after much delay, in fact for about a year! Officials from the Chinese Embassy in Brunei and friends attended the opening at 10.00am this morning. Several local Chinese reporters were also there to cover the opening. This clinic is operated by a couple of Chinese physicians from Fujian who have been in Brunei for quite sometime. The guests were later treated to a lavish lunch at the nearby May Fang Restaurant. 祝你生意兴隆!
