Visit to the National Cancer Centre

Yesterday morning, Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) and Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) jointly organized a visit to the National Cancer Centre in Jerudong to bring Hari Raya cheers and hope to the cancer patients. Mr. James Lee (President of PWM), Cik Haznah Md Hashim (Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia), Datin Paduka Hjh Intan (President of MKM) and Datin Hjh Norliha (MKM's Goodwill Ambassador) were among the dignitaries present to distribute goody bags and "green packets" to the cancer patients. Dato Dr. Babu Sukumaran and Dr. Kenneth Kok of the Brunei Cancer Centre welcomed the visitors and conveyed their appreciations to the two associations for the visit.

Bluesky Coast Restaurant @ Zhuhai

 The bar
First course; Miso soup & kimchi
 Egg pudding
 Scallop; only one per person
 Fish
 Pork Roll & Steak
Fried Rice
Finally the ice cream. I didn't take a photo of the salad
This is how the ice cream was prepared
We (James, Jacky & myself) had dinner at this cosy restaurant called Bluesky Coast Restaurant in Zhuhai which faces the sea. At RMB168 plus 10% service charge per person, we had a set Japanese meal which comes in small portions reminiscent of a fine dining experience. The price includes a drink of your choice and I opted for a beer! Service here is fantastic and I even got to borrow a charger to charge my phone. Some of the tables are also equipped with computers for the customers to surf the internet.

Guotai Hotel @ Zhuhai

This is the second time I stayed at Guotai Hotel, the first was on 12 August 2012 (two years ago). We chose this hotel for its location as it is close to departmental stores, the underground shopping centre, Gongbei Port, etc. However, this time, the room is different from the one I stayed during my first stay (room without a window!). The bed is huge (super king size) and can easily accommodate 3 adults (I only used up half the bed). The room rate was RMB438 (B$87) per night inclusive of buffet breakfast. After dinner, we went for a foot massage on the 2nd floor which costs RMB68 for one hour. The massage centre wasn't open the last time I was here!

Tomorrow morning we'll be taking the 9.30am Zhuhai High Speed Ferry from Jiuzhou Port to HKIA, an hour's ride away, for our flight back to Brunei.

The train ticket from Changsha to Guangzhou (13-7-2014 @ 1953hr)
The train ticket from Guangzhou to Zhuhai (14-7-2014 @ 1220hr)
From Zhangjiajie, we took the 8.40am express bus to Changsha, a 4.5 hours ride, arriving at around 1.00pm. Since the high speed train from Changsha to Guangzhou leaves at 7.53pm, we had about 5 hours to kill in Changsha. Upon arrival, we had some burgers at McDonalds and also to escape from the rain. As soon as the rain subsided we tried the new Changsha MRT (been operating for about a month) to Wuyi Square to leave our luggage at our friend's hotel room as she was not following us to Guangzhou. Later that afternoon, we had an early dinner at "Crowne Fire Palace Restaurant" located on the 2nd floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Changsha. After dinner, we took the MRT again to South Railway Station to catch the high speed train to Guangzhou where we will stay for the night as we will be arriving after 10.00pm.
