1950 Bond Street Cafe (峰粥)

The husband & wife team from Hong Kong, owners of the cafe
The first floor
Steamed 7 Star Garoupa
Kampong Chicken
Black Pepper Crabs
Tiger Prawns
Don't try googling for this cafe, you'll never find it; in fact, it's not even open yet! The owner is James' niece, Ada & her husband, and last night they entertained us at their cafe which will be opening soon (waiting for the approval of the business licence from Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu). Ah Fong (Ada's husband) has a passion for cooking and that night, he showed off his culinary skills, whipping up excellent dishes for us to enjoy. The cafe is located along Gaya Street, occupying one and a half shop lots. The ground floor of one shop lot is occupied by Ada's local partner who is a travel agent. In case you're wondering why they named their cafe "1950 Bond Street Cafe"; it's because Gaya Street used to be known as Bond Street and this street was rebuilt in 1950! We are looking forward to the cafe's opening and we'll definitely come back for more great food!

Welcome Seafood Restaurant @ Penampang

Daniel & SL
Leong Chen Luk
Alwee & Daniel
Upon arriving in Kota Kinabalu (KK) via BI 825 at almost 5.00pm, Luk & I went straight to the Promenade Hotel to check-in. At Promenade, we met up with Alwee, the owner of Brunei's Busiido MMA gym, who had arrived a day earlier. Daniel, my room guest (at Traders Inn) whom I met on the plane had volunteered to bring us to Welcome Seafood Restaurant in Penampang for dinner that night. This restaurant caters mainly to the locals and the place was very busy during the whole time we were there. The price tag for the four of us inclusive of beer came to only RM177-00 (B$70-00)! Fantastic deal and you can't get live seafood cheaper than that anywhere else in KK!

Kuala Lumpur, Food Haven!

Yes, you can describe Kuala Lumpur (KL) as a food haven as it offers so much choices and varieties from hawker fare to fancy restaurants; KL has it all. Below is a list of restaurants I visited during my three days two nights' stay in KL.

Lunch at Shanghai Restaurant, JW Marriot Hotel

Breakfast at Jin Xuan Hong Kong Restaurant, PJ
With Azmi, my old friend from RBA, KL

We tried its famous Nasi Lemak, not bad!

Lunch at Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh, Pavilion
Quite expensive but then again the rent here is high!
Mr. Chia & yours truly

Dinner at Ducking Restaurant, Pavilion
Had dinner here for two nights! 1st night I didn't take any photos

Seaworld Neptune Restaurant & Catering

My favourite oversize clams!
Located just behind the Jerudong fish market and where all the fishing boats are berthed lies this seafood restaurant called "Seaworld Neptune Restaurant & Catering". I've been told that it has been operating for quite a number of years and I only came to know of its existence (I'm rather embarrassed!) only yesterday and through a foreigner as well! It's concept is rather similar to the numerous seafood restaurants scattered throughout Kota Kinabalu which emphasize on live seafood which you can select from the aquariums outside the restaurants. Business was brisk as a bus load of tourists were also having their dinner there last night. It would be perfect if I could bring a bottle of red wine to go with my food. However, drinking in public is strictly prohibited in Brunei. For seafood lovers, this is one  place not to be missed.
