Sungkai @ Coffee Lounge with Special Kids from Pusat Ehsan

 Dato' Ahmad & Hj Ahmad
 Datin distributing "green packets"
Datin receiving a souvenir from Pusat Ehsan
Datin & a special kid reciting the "doa selamat"
Last night, Traders Inn organized a sungkai for 40 special kids and volunteers from Pusat Ehsan, held at the Traders Coffee Lounge. Our Executive Directors (and family members) and Hj Ahmad Hj Abd Rahman (trustee at Pusat Ehsan) and his wife also attended this function. This is the second  year running that we are hosting a sungkai for the special kids; the first was on 21 August 2010 and at that time, we only managed to host 32 kids and volunteers. Before the start of sungkai, our Executive Directors distributed "green packets" to the kids. Last year we pledged to host again this year and last night we honoured that pledge. We wish all the kids "Selamat Hari Raya" and to all the volunteers, keep up the good work!

Sungkai @ Rizqun Coffee House

Last night, I joined my colleagues from Traders Inn for another sungkai session; this time it's at the Rizqun Coffee House, Rizqun International Hotel (RIH) in Gadong. The place was packed with tables occupying the whole lobby of the hotel besides the regular dining areas and parts of the lobby of the shopping centre! Puasa month is indeed a good month for restaurants which serve sungkai. This year, quite a number of hotels serving sungkai are charging B$23.00 per person with lucky draws plus promotional discounts when making payments with selected credit cards. After sungkai, we even managed to catch the 7.35pm movie, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" at the Mall Cineplex (on the 3rd floor of RIH) which I find rather short; only lasted about 1.5 hours! Should have opted for "Conan the Barbarian" L

Sungkai @ Goldiana Cafe, OGH

Last night, I broke fast with our "Housekeeping Brigade" at the Goldiana Cafe & Lounge, Orchid Garden Hotel (OGH) in Berakas. Actually, only two of them (Siti and Wike) were really fasting and the rest of us were just pretenders! Anyway, our "Housekeeping Brigade" has been very hard working especially during the month of July 2011 which recorded an all time high of more than 96% occupancy! Bringing them for sungkai is a small token of our appreciation for all their hard work and extra hours that they have put into their work. Well done, ladies!

Last night, Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) and the Malaysian High Commission (MHC) in Brunei Darussalam hosted a sungkai buffet (breaking of fast) for about 60 special kids and their teachers from Pusat Ehsan. The event was held in the compounds of the MHC. The  buffet was catered by  Arthini Cafe and Catering, a restaurant in Bunut famous for their "nasi kandar". After sungkai, His Excellency, Dato' Abdullah Sani Omar gave away "goodie bags" and "green packets" to the special kids. Dato' Haji Mohd Alimin, Senior Trustee of Pusat Ehsan's Board of Trustees also graced the event with his presence. In the spirit of Ramadhan, do come forward and offer a helping hand to Pusat Ehsan which has made life easier and more meaningful for these special kids. Pusat Ehsan's hard work, passion, dedication and unwavering determination is commendable and deserves every bit of assistance that we can offer. Selamat Berpuasa!
