"Sungkai" for Special Kids

Executive Directors with family members
Last night, Traders Inn hosted 32 special kids and their teachers from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam to a "Sungkai" reception at Traders Coffee Lounge. Executive Directors, Datin Paduka Hjh Fatimah Bte Dato Hj Mohd Husain, Hjh Zainon Bte Dato Hj Alias and their family members turned up in full force to support this cause and also distributed "green packets" to all the special guests. It is Traders Inn's social responsibility to support the less privileged and we would like to thank all our guests, customers and friends for their support all these years, without which this would not be possible. Many thanks to the staff of Traders Inn for their effort in preparing for this event and Patisserie Cake Shop for sponsoring the desserts. We hope to do this again next year!

The Empire Select Membership

Not many people have heard of the "Empire Select" loyalty programme as there are no promotions or advertisements concerning it. I only came to know about it from a friend who then recommended me for membership. The annual fee is B$298-00 and it comes with a host of privileges and discounts including a one night complimentary stay, free buffet lunch and high tea for two persons, etc. Included in the deal is a "Promark Global Privilege" card  which "brings you 5311 partner hotels, restaurants, spas, golf clubs and other lifestyle partners and the network is growing daily". It is more or less similar to the "Starwood Privilege" card which I discontinued since Sheraton no longer has a presence in Brunei. I think this is a fantastic deal if you happen to have lots of people to entertain!

Sponsorship of Teachers' Salaries @ Pusat Ehsan

Yours trully presenting a cheque to Pg. Datin Noraini.
Richie, our Operations Manager.
Mr. Koh of Eng Hup Leong Sdn Bhd.
Mr. Kent Lim of Bian Hoe Sdn Bhd.
Yesterday morning, Richie and I represented two of our Directors in a signing and cheque presentation ceremony at Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam. This is a yearly event where four companies/individuals donated $4,800 each to cover the salaries of four teachers at the centre. After the signing and cheque presentation ceremony, a short video was shown, followed by a tea reception hosted by Pg. Datin Hjh Noraini, the Executive Trustee of Pusat Ehsan.

Around the World in 60 Minutes!

"Around the World in 60 Minutes" was the main "attraction" at the recently concluded Consumer Fair Part 6, organized by Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd. It was held at the Bridex Hall in Jerudong from 29th July to 1st August 2010. Judging from the numerous posts on Facebook, ATW in 60 minutes must be the "most photographed attraction" last week. On the last day of the Fair which was a Sunday, James came over to my office and picked me up to watch "Salt" (a spy movie starring Angelina Jolie) at the Empire Cinema with his two nieces (Sarah & Sharon) and since we had an hour to kill before the movie, we decided to drop in a the Consumer Fair which was five minutes away by car. It was more like  "Around the World in 10 Minutes" and before we knew it, we were seated comfortably at the cinema watching "Salt"!

Farewell to Richie

Last night, Richie (our Operations Manager) hosted us to a dinner reception at our very own Coffee Lounge as he will be leaving for a new job in China. Richie has been with us since November 2009 and we wish him all the best in his new posting as Assistant Resident Manager of Naked Retreats, "a boutique eco-hotel nestled in the pristine bamboo forest of Moganshan, Zhejiang Province, China". Hopefully, he will be working fully clothed! LOL.
