Dongguan is still a relatively under-developed town, compared to Shenzhen and Guangzhou and is situated between these two big cities with Guangzhou in the North and Shenzhen in the South. It used to be an agricultural town but in recent years, scores of new building are springing up and one of these new developments is the Eurasia International Hotel. We stayed there for two nights after our trip to Macau and we were not disappointed. The rooms were clean and comes with free internet, daily fruit basket and complimentary buffet breakfast. All these for only RMB490.00 which is less than B$100.00. It's definitely one of the better hotels I've stayed in during my trips to China.

Hard Rock Hotel Macau
Koh enjoying his noodles at HKIA
At HKIA's ferry terminal
View from our suite
We arrived in Hong Kong at about 2.00pm from Brunei and took the ferry to Macau without exiting the airport. They even retrieve our luggages for us and all we have to do was wait for the ferry to depart at 4.00pm. The journey took about an hour. In Macau, we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and were upgraded to a Junior Suite as the hotel was running full. The room rate is almost HK$2,000 (about B$400) per night. That night, we lost some money in the casino so the room is actually more than HK$2,000! LOL.Friday, 21 January 2011

Brunei-China Friendship Association's 5th Anniversary Celebration
The cake cutting ceremony
Mrs. & Mrs. Benson Yeo
Last night I attended the Brunei-China Friendship Association's 5th Celebration Dinner on behalf of the Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia which was held at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Jerudong Park Polo Club. I arrived early as the parking spaces at the Polo Club is quite limited but was not allowed to park in front of the club as it was reserved for VIPs. The Guest of Honour was Her Royal Highness Pg. Anak Puteri Hjh. Masna. Dinner was served quite late at about 9.40pm after all the speeches were made and souvenirs exchanged. There was also a cake cutting ceremony and during dinner, wu shu exponents, dancers and singers entertained the guests. I left at around 11.00pm and that was when it suddenly rained so heavily as I was walking towards my car. I dashed for my car but still got soaked in the process as my car was parked quite far away!

New Year's Eve 2010
Balloons floating high up in the ceiling
I celebrated my New Year's Eve at the Atrium Cafe of the Empire Hotel & Country Club but didn't get to welcome the New Year as I left early at around 11.00pm. I missed the balloon drop which was scheduled at 11.30pm and also the fireworks at midnight. The menu for the evening was more or less the same as that on Christmas Day but was more expensive at B$95 plus 10% service charge (Christmas Day's rate was B$55 plus 10% service charge). I guess I must be paying for the fireworks which I didn't get to witness! Can I get a refund? I'm just trying my luck. LOL. Anyway, Happy New Year!
