Eric Lim & Suki's Wedding Dinner @ Manggis Mall

Another artiste from Malaysia.

The lamb shank, yummy!

Brocolli with abalone, sea cucumber & mushroom.

Malaysian artiste, Jacqueline Teo.

CD of Jacqueline Teo.
This time it's on Frankie Lim's invitation that we attended his son's (Eric Lim) wedding dinner held at the Manggis Mall last night. The catering was done by Royal Brunei Catering (RBC) and the dishes were fantastic except for the Shark Fin Soup which I did not consume and I noticed that my friend, Alex Lo didn't touch his either (at last I have found a fellow crusader against "shark finning"). The evening's programmes were entertaining with three Malaysian artistes performing for the guests. I was given a CD (Hokkien numbers) of Jacqueline Teo (one of the artistes) but unfortunately, it wasn't autographed!

Eric Lim & Suki's Wedding Dinner @ Centrepoint

I attended Eric Lim and Suki's wedding dinner held at the Centrepoint Hotel's ballroom on Thursday, 28th January 2010 on behalf of one of my Directors. This invitation is from the bride's side. The dishes at the Centrepoint is good except for the Shark Fin soup which I do not consume anymore due to conservation issues (I supposed it's good too). Upon arrival, I realised that I was also invited to attend their wedding dinner on Saturday, 30th January 2010 at The Manggis Mall as well. The second dinner is on the invitation of Eric's father, Frankie Lim, the owner of Chong Hock Video. I do not know the couple personally (only their dads!) but congratulations anyway!

Pusat Ehsan's Appreciation Night

Janet, my ex-colleague at DaVinci Collection.

Performers from Indonesia. Sorry for poor picture quality.

It was Pusat Ehsan's 10th Anniversary and it was also its Patron's birthday last night. The event was held at the Jerudong Park Polo Club. Pusat Ehsan has come a long way since its modest begining in 2000 with just 15 special kids to its present day's 120. It also has a centre in Kuala Belait. There are also expansions in the pipeline as announced by Dato Alimin during his opening speech. A video presentation was shown, courtesy of Syabas Technology. There were performances by live bands, singers and dancers as well as a couple of Indonesian performers who filled up the evening's programmes not to mention the lucky draws! This event was organized for the supporters of Pusat Ehsan but most importantly, it is for all the volunteers and staff of Pusat Ehsan. Keep up the fantastic work!

5th Consumer Fair @ ICC

I was only interested in purchasing cheap air tickets (from our national carrier) and so I headed off to the 5th Consumer Fair held at the International Conventional Centre (ICC) this afternoon. Yes, I managed to get a return ticket to Hong Kong for B$443.00 which is a great deal. The response to the cheap fares is overwhelming as the queue at the counters of the RBA booth was long. The 5th Consumer Fair started yesterday and will last till this Sunday and opening hours is between 10.00am to 10.00pm. The organizers of the 5th Consumer Fair is Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd, one of the biggest event management companies in Brunei and they are targeting 60,000 visitors for this event. Good Luck!
Update: At the conclusion of the 5th Consumer Fair, the attendance has reached a staggering 80,000 visitors!

Alysha's Full Moon Celebration!

Thiam Hock Restaurant on 25/1/2010

Congratulations to our colleague, Alex Lim and his wife, Mabel, for the birth of their baby girl, Alysha. Last night, they hosted a party to celebrate Alysha's "full moon" at Traders Coffee Lounge for the other colleagues and friends. The catering was done by Dim Sum Restaurant, another restaurant that is located at Traders Inn. Actually, Alex Lim had already hosted another dinner the previous night (25th January 2010) at Thiam Hock Restaurant for his relatives which I attended on the invitation of Alex's uncle even though I'm not related to Alex (I guess I'm the only outsider)! On that particular occasion, I kept a low profile and so I did not take any pictures and cannot blog about it! Pai Seh!

Pizza Hut @ Gadong

Right after we had our H1N1 vaccinations yesterday, my colleagues suggested coffee break at Pizza Hut, Gadong. I don't have much preference for pizzas but since my colleagues like it, I just follow the crowd but I must say the interior decor at Pizza Hut is very tastefully decorated and cosy. I recently received a comment on my Facebook profile that I've become a "freelance reporter" and to set the records straight; I'm just a "freelance writer" writing down what is happening around me (and my life) and I don't go around "reporting" on everyday happenings in Brunei! I think there is a big difference between these two definitions and the latter suits me more! LOL....

H1N1 Vaccination

Waiting for their turns.

Registration.

The actual vaccination.

This afternoon, I took several of my colleagues to have their vaccinations against H1N1 at the Health Centre (4th floor), Ministry of Health (MOH) at Ong Sum Ping in the capital. This time around, the vaccinations were free and Brunei is the only Asean country that offers its citizens excellent free health and medical care. I remember when we took the common flu vaccinations last June, we had to pay more than B$18 for each person (still cheap compared to private clinics) because we were green IC holders (work permit holders). We didn't have to wait very long for our turns and it was smooth sailing for me as I didn't feel any pain nor any side effects (though the nurse did cautioned us on possible side effects) a few hours after the jab! As I'm planning a trip to China after Chinese New Year, the timing of this vaccination couldn't be better! Thank you, MOH!
