Harris Resort Kuta Beach

I was in Bali for two nights and on the first night, I stayed at a hotel in Seminyak and as I was "surveying" this hotel, it will not be mentioned here. On the second night, I moved to Kuta Beach and my friend, Hans, who flew in from Jakarta to join me has booked Harris Resort Kuta Beach for the night. Harris Hotel is a local brand with 13 hotels scattered throughout Indonesia and in Bali alone, there are five Harris Hotels. The furnishings are very simple and plain with the colour "orange" as the main theme as almost everything in Harris Hotel is orange in colour. All the basic amenities like coffee/tea, toothbrush, slippers and a safe are provided in the room. Although it is touted as a four star hotel, I would have given it a lower rating if not for the swimming pool and its good location. It is very near to Kuta Beach and the Beachwalk Mall is conveniently situated just next to the hotel!

Marissa's Birthday at Atrium Cafe

Last night we threw a surprise dinner party at Atrium Cafe to celebrate the birthday of our Front Office Supervisor, Marissa. The actual date is today but as we do not want to arouse any suspicions from her, we did it last night. Only twelve of us attended (including the birthday celebrant) and one housekeeping colleague whom we have invited did not attend. The price for the buffet is B$40 plus 10% service charge per person. Luckily, we have a 50% discount voucher (which is due to expire on 15 September 2013) so in actual fact we only paid for six persons! Value for money!

Hotel Mulia Senayan

With up to almost 1,000 rooms and suites, eight signature F&B outlets, Hotel Mulia Senayan in Jakarta is probably the busiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Every minute, throng of vehicles drove past the main entrance non-stop, picking up or dropping off their guests with more than a dozen security officers directing the traffic. The room I stayed in is spacious, clean and well maintained. One policy of this hotel which I couldn't comprehend is that no photography is allowed unless you are the subject in that photo! I was stopped a couple of times from taking pictures in the lobby but they never asked me to delete the photos but even offered to take a photo of me with the lobby in the background!
